Ba Gua Zhang is a unique Chinese martial art that uses constantly changing circular and spherical movements to strengthen the inner energy of the body and build calm stability within the mind. The method of walking the circle is used to create many different and highly adaptive martial arts techniques as well as developing meditative awareness for releasing turbulent thoughts and emotions inside of us.
This course will cover all of the training and movements of Ba Gua’s primary form, the Single Palm Change. Participants will learn the footwork for Ba Gua’s unique method of walking the circle, including the physical mechanics and energy work that goes with it. We will also lay the foundation for the meditative training that can be cultivated while practicing Ba Gua.
The Single Palm Change will be taught step by step, including the nei gung work of engaging the inner body to increase strength and flexibility. Each part of Single Palm Change includes ways to improve health, calm the mind and effective self-defense techniques. We will also learn Ba Gua’s two-person exercise, Rou Shou, which teaches great sensitivity of touch, body awareness and intuitive movement under pressure.
Please join us! We have fun and train hard. All experience levels are welcome.
